West Wickham Class: Myriam Ruelle
My name is Myriam Ruelle and I am a franchise instructor for Hine Tai Chi Schools Ltd. I've been training with Hine TaiChi Schools for over 16 years. I always had a great interest in Eastern philosophy and meditation and started TaiChi after my acupuncturist recommended it to me. TaiChi has a profound and cumulative effect and has really changed my life. The benefits on the posture and flexibility are evident and I even grew half an inch in my late thirties thanks to this. I have also used other techniques taught by Sifu Hine, like self hypnosis to succesfully stop smoking!
When working in London a few years ago, I used to attend meditation groups at the Buddhist Society. On top of TaiChi, I trained in Hsing Yi for a few years but have lately concentrated on my training in Shaolin with Sifu and SeeJay Sarah. As all other instructors, I carry on learning the TaiChi form to advanced levels as well as weapons training and other techniques taught at senior levels.
This class will be held in the Wickham Hall, Sussex Road, BR4 0JX just off of West Wickham High Street on
Mondays from 11 to 12AM and them again from 7 to 8 PM map details.

Beginner’s TASTER SESSION dates 2015 West Wickham

No Obligation Taster classes are held on the dates above. We want to offer you the chance to try Tai Chi for yourself. Take part in the class on the start date and if you like it, pay your fees and complete the 5 weeks. If you decide that Tai Chi is not quite right for you then don’t pay us anything, simple as that.
Health & Fitness Benefits
One of the main benefits of Tai Chi is the reduction in blood pressure, but it is also good for breathing, posture, balance, stamina, weight loss and calming of the mind. Practising daily changes your way of thinking and helps with concentration, memory and creativity. It can also help with anxiety, arthritis and back pain, while also helping people boost their inner energy levels and immune systems. The sequence of gentle, flowing exercise movements incorporated into the art help to tone the body, strengthen joints and fight diseases. (With regular practice all of the above benefits can be achieved.)
Pointers for beginners
The good news is that you don’t have to be fit – as long as you can stand up unaided you can do Tai Chi.
Beginners at all Hine Tai Chi classes are encouraged to try Tai Chi for ten weeks before becoming a member. This is so that you can make sure that Tai Chi right for you. We follow the traditional Chinese way of teaching, but once the lesson is finished it is down to each student to practice, we recommend 20 minutes a day. At the Hine Institute we teach Tai Chi as a health Form. We have separate classes to teach the combat, or fighting side, and weapons.
The origins of tai chi go back many hundreds of years, yet people from all walks of life are now profiting from its practice. The health benefits have attracted both young and old alike in ever-increasing numbers, yet tai chi is more than simply an art for health or gentle exercise, it’s a way of life. Tai Chi is meditation in movement, a martial art, and a whole new way of perceiving yourself and everything around you. Tai Chi is practised by millions of people who consider it to be an integral part of their everyday lives.
