We teach the fighting, or combat side, of Tai Chi and Northern and Southern Kung Fu.
There are many, many different forms of Martial Arts from China, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand and new arts are being put together all the time. If you are looking to join a Martial Arts class here are some hints and tips for you.
- Check out the teacher – ask them questions about their own training, most of the schools’ web sites give you this information.
- What do they teach? Check out the style online first, watch some You Tube videos, do some reading on what is involved.
- How are the classes structured – as you progress through the ranks, how many classes can you do / are you expected to do per week. Are there weekend camps etc you can attend.
- How much do the classes, gradings, uniforms and other kit required cost. Find out about membership and all potential costs upfront, don’t be afraid to ask.
- Instructor training. Can you go on to do this if you want to. It is very rewarding, if a little daunting at first.
- Insurance. Is the instructor and class insured and will they sort out insurance for you too?
