Dulwich Tai Chi & Qi Gong
Welcome to the Dulwich Tai Chi class page
My name is Teffany Osborne and I am a franchise instructor for Hine Tai Chi Schools Ltd. I have been training with Master John Hine for many years and I also assist at some of his seminars. Tai Chi is an exciting, rewarding and often challenging discipline. Although always vaguely interested in Tai Chi I began studying it principally because of a back problem. The physical benefits of Tai Chi are well documented and readily identified and it has been immensely valuable for that fact alone. The benefits to the mind, although less easily defined, are none the less tangible; they are an essential part of Tai Chi and a major reason for it having survived and developed over many centuries.
I am the instructor for the Dulwich class which is held at St. Faith’s Community Centre, Red Post Hill, SE24 9JQ, on Tuesdays at 8pm. Street View Here. This is a beginners’ class and starter dates are every five weeks, details listed below. You are most welcome to come along to the class before each session begins to meet myself and some of the students and ask us any questions about Tai Chi and the learning process. Please note that we don’t have the ability to offer free taster sessions at this venue.

Health & Fitness Benefits
One of the main benefits of Tai Chi is the reduction in blood pressure, but it is also good for breathing, posture, balance, stamina, weight loss and calming of the mind. Practising daily changes your way of thinking and helps with concentration, memory and creativity. It can also help with anxiety, arthritis and back pain, while also helping people boost their inner energy levels and immune systems. The sequence of gentle, flowing exercise movements incorporated into the art help to tone the body, strengthen joints and fight diseases. (With regular practice all of the above benefits can be achieved.)
The origins of tai chi go back many hundreds of years, yet people from all walks of life are now profiting from its practice. The health benefits have attracted both young and old alike in ever-increasing numbers, yet tai chi is more than simply an art for health or gentle exercise, it’s a way of life. Tai Chi is meditation in movement, a martial art, and a whole new way of perceiving yourself and everything around you. Tai Chi is practised by millions of people who consider it to be an integral part of their everyday lives
