About the instructors
Sarah Hitchcock and See Jay Siu Hine run this class for Master Hine. They both teach and learn at Sifu’s instructor training class.
Sarah has been training since 1997. She is a level 2 instructor having passed two examinations on her Form, teaching ability, knowledge and weapons forms. She assists at both Form and Sword seminars and is an instructor in our Shaolin Class. Sarah says;
“By day I am a business manager and I started Tai Chi as I wanted to take up a leisure interest which would be relaxing, as my job is extremely busy and can be stressful. I had always been interested in Eastern culture and tai chi seemed an interesting challenge.
I love Tai Chi because it has so many levels and there is always something new to learn about the art, and about yourself in trying to master it. When you practise, the act of performing Tai Chi absorbs you completely. Had I never been introduced to Tai Chi I would almost certainly be a hopeless workaholic, but practising gives you a sense of perspective and can enable you to achieve a balance in life.”
My name is Siu Lih and I am a Core Instructor for Sifu Hine. I have been training under Master Hine for 20 years and I assist him at his seminars and at the Instructor Training Class.
I love Tai Chi because it is an unique art and its health benefits are well documented. It helps to reduce stress, anxiety and improve flexibility and balance. Unlike most exercise or sports, the practice of Tai Chi does not rely on strength, force or speed, which make it ideal for me. Also it is a great place to meet people, from different part of the world and from all walks of life . In short Tai Chi simply keeps me going everyday!

Health & Fitness Benefits
One of the main benefits of Tai Chi is the reduction in blood pressure, but it is also good for breathing, posture, balance, stamina, weight loss and calming of the mind. Practising daily changes your way of thinking and helps with concentration, memory and creativity. It can also help with anxiety, arthritis and back pain, while also helping people boost their inner energy levels and immune systems. The sequence of gentle, flowing exercise movements incorporated into the art help to tone the body, strengthen joints and fight diseases. (With regular practice all of the above benefits can be achieved.)
Pointers for beginners
The good news is that you don’t have to be fit – as long as you can stand up unaided you can do Tai Chi.
