Hi,
My name is Trevor and some time ago I studied Yang style Tai Chi under Sifu John Hine in Bromley, Kent.
I had to leave due to work pressures. I found that Tai Chi was very good for me because, having spent 40 years practising other martial arts (karate, judo, aikido, kendo etc) and getting older I had to slow down.
Tai Chi gave me time to learn something new, it helped my mind and it helped my posture and with the help of Sifu Hine’s instructors, taught me well.
On 4th December 2006 I had a massive heart attack at home. I thought, Oh my god, here we go, chest pains, impending doom the lot.
I started to breathing as if I was doing my Tai Chi and chi kung and body, did that help. I still had the chest pain but my breathing was good and my training in Tai Chi calmed me down.
I felt it was worse for me as I work as a front line ambulance man and I knew what was happening.
I was treated in hospital and discharged 10 days later but, I still practised my Tai Chi and chi kung, doing only a couple of moves each day and practising my breathing as well.
I had to change my way of live. I’ve stopped smoking and I;ve started a course on reiki.
I’ve rejoined the Hine Tai Chi School in Petts Wood and I’m also involved very deeply with chi kun. I find that this helps with my posture when I practise my Tai Chi.
I would like to say a big thank you to Sifu John Hine and his team of instructors for their help in getting me back on the road to recovery and letting me rejoin their school.
Thanks again,
Trevor
