John Hine has studied the martial arts and mental disciplines of the Far East since 1962. In that time he has trained under several fine masters and experts both in the UK and in the Far East.

He began his Tai Chi training in 1972, and has studied with five Tai Chi Masters. Prominent among them was master K. H. Chu, one of the three heirs to the Yang Style of Tai Chi, who was taught by grand master Yang Shou Chung. Sifu Hine has also trained with Master L. H. Lo, a direct Tai Chi descendent of the famous Yang family, especially skilled in the use of Tai Chi weapons.

Prior to his instruction in Tai Chi, he had extensively trained in the martial arts including Karate, Tae Kwon Do and Northern & Southern Chinese Boxing. Even whilst training in Tai Chi he kept up his training in Chinese Boxing and became a qualified Instructor in all four arts. His Chi Kung training formally began in 1968, with Master Chang Cheong Kung, who had spent his life travelling the Far East studying the martial arts; his knowledge was of the highest order.

In addition John Hine is a Sifu in both Hsing -Yi and Pa Kua which he learned alongside Tai Chi; he still teaches both of these arts.

Keeping with tradition he is also a healer and spiritual teacher. His training in Chinese Medicine included principally Acupuncture but, also Dietary Therapy and Herbal medicine, he is a registered Acupuncturist. In support of his knowledge of Chinese Medicine he is also a qualified Naturopath and has a Diploma in Medical Science.

John Hine's spiritual training has encompassed both Eastern and Western Philosophies. Having become a Buddhist when he was seventeen, he has intensively studied and practised meditation and personal development ever since with several teachers. His studies, since his youth, have also included the Western mystery schools. The spiritual path led him to the disciplines of Psychology, Hypnosis, NLP and Autogenics, which he found reinforced and strengthened his spiritual training. He regularly lectures and holds seminars in personal development, and is also a registered Hypnotherapist. This knowledge allows Master Hine to put a unique perspective on all he teaches.
